Abusing our Social Services System

I think starbuck posted on this a few months back. Maybe not the same thing but close.
I learned something the other day that stunned me.
As most of the older folks know, i went through a divorce a couple of yrs ago.
What shocked me the last couple of days to find out.
My ex which made her second marriage, she gets Medicaid for her children. Now she works and has insurance on them. Her first ex has insurance on them, plus the first ex pays child support, and she gets Medicaid?
I pay through the nose on taxes like others and this woman is yet to pay her first penny to WC in anything. Yet WC is paying her tab.
Im not as upset because she is my ex and doing it.
But after talking to a few people i find it's very common. My one question is how?
I have people in my family who i help who can barely survive and the county tells them they are not eligible. Yet this is acceptable?
Honestly folks i have to wonder about our system at times. We pay through the nose so others can use and abuse it.
I have been told stories of women living in free housing, going to college and living with men, who make as much as 2x or 3x, more than i do, and most get Medicaid and food stamps and their bills paid for?
Yet i was told by one person, it's perfectly legal as long as they prepare their meals separate?
Gee Whiz when do the rest of us ever get a break like this? I'd love to live like that for one month and not end up going to jail over it.
And based on what i was told, we have a lot doing it in WC and nothing is said or done about it.
All i can say is it must be nice. I know if it was me they would jack up the jail and bury me under it.
Oh well guess im just venting i guess, i just paid a property tax at Wise off, to find out this, but it sure has to make you wonder.
Has to make you question the system and if anyone is even monitoring it.
Oh well as i said i guess just venting. But i could of done alot with that money i give the county for taxes.
But i see it is being put to good use.

I see it everyday. I know families who get parent aides to come into their house 8-10 hours a day to help them clean and teach them parenting skills. And these people don't work or anything. I NEED HELP CLEANING BECAUSE I HAVE A FULL TIME JOB. But I'm not eligible for a free maid!
My husband's cousin owns his own business and makes his income look so low that he and his wife get WIC for their three children. I'd be ashamed!

Happens all the time...I know people on welfare that don't need it but when you say something the Government steps in and says yes they do...That's what's wrong our Government loves to spend money on stuff that should be spent on something that could do people whom actually need it some good...Because I also know people whom need help and the government won't help them at all...Like I said I guess you have to have 4 or 5 kids with different people and drive a Cadillac or SUV to get welfare around here.

In college, one of my jobs was to work for the Indigent Patient program at the Health Department.

I would see patients park their mercedes & lexus vehicles around the corner and walk to my office - for their free prescription medicine (esp. Valium & the like, controlled substances).

Doesn't shock me...Here in Kingsport they drive Escalades to the welfare office

Those free prescriptions are what is footing the bill for those nice vehicles. I see so much of that everyday that it isnt even funny. You dont but a brand new vehicle every year on $1500 a month.

So i guess the real question is. How does the system allow this to happen, and evidently many know it happens. Yet it's still allowed? How?
I don't mind paying for those who need it.
But for those who abuse it. Honestly. We are getting ripped off.
And yet folks know it and nothing is done. That is what got me when i was writing the big check i had to write. Ok. I work my butt off, and here is others who play the system and can live better than those who are paying for the system.
How does it happen and no one gets caught?
Honestly after learning it's so widely know. It kind of po's me.
I work 60 hrs if not more hrs in 4 - 10 hr days and if it was me. I'd be under the jail.
Yet how is this justified and why is nothing done about it.
I honestly feel like many of us are getting ripped big time.
When someone can live in free housing, get food stamps and medicaid and their other living expenses paid, yet live with a person who brings in 50,000 dollars a year, if not more.
And it's justified, because they say they don't live there or they prepare their meals separate.
Oh yeah i guess they sleep separate to in a three bedroom house with 3-4 kids.
Man i am amazed. I may be a bit nieve. But we who pay taxes in WC and others, we are getting hammered. And yet no one questions nothing. Outrageous.
In all honesty i think it's time a few phone calls are made and a few ask why.
Like i said i don't mind it for those who need it, but those who abuse it. And today i was told it's probably 3 out of 4 who can't get help that need it.
And others just lie or have folks lie for them and their set. Like i said outrageous.
In all honestly i have thought about calling Chad Doston, WC Commonwealth Attorney and the Social Services Dept. to question how this is done.
The way i understand it. There is probably so much abuse, the court system couldn't handle the cases?
And basically investiagting it is a joke. Because if it can't be done in daylight hrs. It isn't worth the man hours?

What company is sending out PA's for 8-10 hours a day??? I beg for one to come out 10 hours a month for one of my families I provide county services for and I have to go through hell and high water just to get it. I know LPOY and CCC provide similar services but I have never seen 8-10 hours a day to clean. As a matter of fact PA's are not supposed to clean they are supposed to teach the parents skills.
